Families of children with special needs, chronic illness or disability often experience many challenges and transitions across their life-span. Apart from the normal stresses of daily life, parents of children with special needs or disability, deal with a range of extra stresses and strains brought about as a result of the negative impact of illness or disability on the family.
Parents are the centre of the family and therefore need to be supported as well. Special Heroes offers support, guidance and information for parents through the provision of:-
- Information sessions
- Parental workshops
- peer support groups
with the aim of supporting the positive mental health and well-being of all family members.
