Siblings of children with special needs, chronic illness or disability often experience a wide range of issues and concerns that are unique to them. Sibling relationships are considered to be one of the most enduring and longest lasting bonds between brothers and sisters throughout the life-course.
Siblings will often require a wide range of extra supports as they undertake additional responsibilities in the care or advocacy of their brother or sister with special needs or disability.
Special Heroes aim to support the positive mental health and well being of siblings through a wide range of educational and recreational activities, fostering resilience and peer to peer support.
